Milan, 67

I had one experience when my wife and I were on our way to Logan. We was drivin’ and all the sudden I was having trouble with the car, so we pulled over. Turns out we had a flat tire and for some reason I couldn’t get the tire off! I’d never had that happen before. We tried and tried and tried, with no luck. It was gettin’ dark and the road came right out of the canyon, so I started to get really worried. I thought, “If somebody comes down that canyon and they can’t see our car, they might hit it,” you know? My wife wasn’t strong enough to hold the car and I couldn’t hold the car and put the tire on at the same time. That was the problem. So I went off the side of the road and I prayed. I says, “Well Lord, I don’t know what to do. If I could do somethin’ I would, but I can’t do both at the same time.” It seemed like a minute later there was somebody there on a motorcycle. He said, “It looks like you need some help.” And I says, “I do.” He said, “I guess God heard your prayer.” I thought “Okay, where did this guy come from?” He comes over and helps me get the tire changed and everything. I mean, I can’t say I’m attracted to men, but this guy was a good lookin’ guy. He was buff, if that’s the way to put it. Looked like he was 40 or something, but man, he was fit. He started talking to me and he was telling me how much God loved me. I said, “Well if God loved me so much, why are all these things goin’ wrong?” Man, as soon as I said it I was sorry. He went on to explain that God does it to humble us. He said, “No man can exist on this earth without God’s help.” I said, “Well I know we couldn’t without land and air and water and food and those sorts of things…” He said, “Yeah, but it’s a lot more than that. We need Him spiritually.” He walked over to his motorcycle and I knew he was getting ready to leave, so I walked over there and I says, “I really appreciate what you did, by the way what’s your name?” And he says, “My name isn’t important, the only thing that matters is that God sent me to help you.” Just then my wife was getting out of the car, I turned my head as I said, “Well don’t go yet, my wife will want to say thank you too.” It couldn’t have been more than two seconds, but when I turned back he was gone. I didn’t hear anything, see anything, nothin’. I walked out to the street and didn’t hear a sound or anything. It’s always been a pretty interesting experience to me. I talk to people about it and not everybody will actually believe it, but it really did happen.
